Multi stage flow limiting orifice plates are mainly used for pressure reduction and flow limiting during fluid transportation. They do not need to detect differential pressure signals like standard orifice plates, but only utilize the pressure loss characteristics of pointed orifice plates to achieve the purpose of pressure reduction and flow limiting.
Multistage flow limiting orifice plates, also known as flow limiting orifice plate groups, can be divided into single orifice plate groups and porous orifice plate groups, and their structure and installation are similar to standard orifice plates. In general applications, in order to consider processing costs, when the pressure drop is greater than 2MPa, multi-stage single hole limit orifice plates are selected, and single stage single hole plates are commonly used to achieve the purpose of limiting flow and reducing pressure.
1、 Main features:
1. Reliable operation, simple structure, and durability.
2. Significantly reduce investment and operational maintenance costs, using flow limiting orifice plates can replace regulating valves to limit flow or reduce pressure.
3. The price is lower than the standard orifice plate of the same caliber, and there is no need to measure pressure difference. There are no electronic accessories such as pressure difference transmitters and flow integrators.
4. The higher the flow rate, the smaller the opening of the throat, and the more significant the decompression effect.
2、 Working principle of multi-stage flow limiting orifice plate:
A multi-stage flow limiting orifice is a core tip hole that restricts fluid flow or reduces fluid pressure. The flow rate through the orifice increases with the increase of pressure drop, but when the critical pressure drop is exceeded or when the pressure drop exceeds a certain value, regardless of how the outlet pressure decreases, the flow rate will maintain a certain value and no longer increase. The multi-stage flow limiting orifice is based on this principle to limit fluid flow or reduce fluid pressure.
3、 Scope of use:
Multi stage flow limiting orifice plates do not require real flow calibration and can be used to restrict fluid flow or reduce fluid pressure, suitable for:
(1) The process materials are depressurized and have low accuracy requirements.
(2) When gas phase is not generated through orifice throttling, and there is a need for significant pressure drop upstream and downstream of the valve in the pipeline, in order to reduce fluid erosion on the valve, orifice plates can be connected in series upstream of the valve.
(3) Places where fluid requires low flow and continuous flow, such as analysis sampling pipes for pumps, flushing pipes, bypass pipes for hot standby pumps, etc.
(4) Places that require pressure reduction to reduce noise or wear, such as evacuation systems.
